AREAS OF PRACTICE

As Oliver Wendall Holmes said “The best way out is always through.” So why not try going through the process of some therapy so you can perhaps lead a more satisfying and productive life?

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)
A condition that results from exposure to one or more terrifying events in which a person feels severely threatened emotionally and/or physically. These events can occur at any time in one’s life and often build up without awareness until a person feels that they just can’t cope with life in general. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an extremely useful technique for PTSD. EMDR is used to accelerate the processing and resolution of symptoms resulting from disturbing and/or unresolved life experiences.

MIND AND BODY AWARENESS
The mind and body are intricately connected and greatly influence each other. Feelings such as fear and anxiety can create muscle tightness and pain while physical illness can cause depression and despair.

GUIDED IMAGERY & RELAXATION EXERCISES are helpful tools in order to gain awareness and eventually control, management and/or relief of Mind and Body symptoms.

ABUSE
There are many different types of abuse ranging from emotional and physical that are inflicted by others, to abuse of oneself by being unaware of self defeating and sabotaging behaviors.

MINDFULNESS which is the awareness of one’s thoughts actions or motivations can be of great help in any abusive situations and can lead to liberation.

SHAME BASED IDENTITY
Identity is a major part of well being. When a person suffers from a great deal of trauma in childhood the wound to the psyche can dramatically impact the identity or self-image that is formed. One may become plagued by a sense of inadequacy, self- doubt and a feeling of painful exposure.

HYPNOTIC TECHNIQUES used for ego-strengthening and self-esteem development as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can play major roles in forming a healthy identity in which one begins to feel whole and complete.

LIFE FULFILLMENT
Sometimes a person may experience boredom, restlessness or even depression or anxiety and be confused as to why they are not happy. Psychotherapy can allow a person to explore life stressors, relationships, spiritual issues and much more to help one make life transformations. By learning how to tap into inner guidance and resolving old issues, a person can find peace of mind and learn new skills for a better quality of life.

ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
Both anxiety and depression can impact a person’s daily ability to function greatly, often without ones awareness. Anxiety may only be stimulated within someone in specific situations and/or certain times of the year. Depression may be subtle, yet chronic, in which a person could have mild symptoms such as blunted emotions or a general lack of enthusiasm. When someone seeks professional help they often become aware of their anxiety and/or depression and feel a great sense of relief just from this awareness. If they choose to continue with treatment the benefits will most likely increase.

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us”
-Helen Keller
